Project Introduction

The LCCP program is a campus project launched in 2018 on the basis of previous programs. Taking the campus as a pioneer pilot community, the vision of the project is to promote low-carbon transformation in campus through three strategies: the down-top popularization of concepts, the top-down promotion of campus policy and environment improvement, and modular intervention strategy. The project will realize the improvement of campus environment and promote low-carbon transformation in communities and urban areas by setting up a multi-party cooperation mechanism among the college administrators, the enterprises and NGOs with support from youth.

The first stage of The LCCP program will be implemented during June 2019 to June 2021 to explore the effective path of low-carbon transformation in campus.

2019-2021 Low Carbon Campus Pilot Program in China
  • The LCCP program is a campus program launched in 2018 on the basis of previous programs. Taking the campus as a pioneer pilot community, the vision of the program is to promote low-carbon transformation in campus through three strategies: the down-top popularization of concepts, the top-down promotion of campus policy and environment improvement, and modular intervention strategy.

Future Plan

  • Unit universities to implement “Campus Carbon-Neutral Week” once a year to involve more students
  • A baseline assessment report on the energy and carbon emission status of universities in different regions of China, and finish the <Model Case Compilation at Home and Abroad and Zero-Carbon Path Guide>;
  • Build the first pilot by combining resources from governments and campanies
Project Strategy
The down-top popularization of concepts

To establish a tripartite collaboration mechanism between campus administers, third-party enterprises and youth to promote the development of regional environment

The top-down improvement of the system and the environment

To promote the implementation of policies and the occurrence of actual changes from the perspective of every young individual's behaviors

Modularized environmental intervention strategy

Divide the campus emission area into four parts: restaurant, clean energy system (including electricity and heating), campus dormitories, green and ecological campus. We will make energy-saving intervention programs in each part accordingly and facilitate the development of evaluation work.
